NEW REPORTS… MAY 2009: Local residents are once again hearing the sound over Memorial Day Weekend. New reports are indicated by YELLOW markers. (Red markers indicate noise complaints from spring 2008.)

Some of the comments from residents:

“A steady drone from after midnight into the early morning…A hum that can become really loud and wakes me up in the middle of the night. I have lived in the neighborhood since 1953 and have never heard this before.” –Terrace Drive, Fairmount

“This constant noise is seriously affecting our quality of life… The noise not only keeps my children and I up at night but also often wakes us up and we all sleep with fans running but can still hear it over the fans.” –William Street, Solvay

“I’m still hearing the noise here and it’s very annoying… It bugs me when I’m trying to read or just relax without the TV on or any music playing.” –West Colony Pointe, Camillus

“Constant droning sound. Varies in intensity and length. Worse at night, especially in late night hours.” –North Terry Road, Westvale “We got up and into the car dozens of times to try to trace it down with no luck and started to think we were nuts. [We are] about two miles from the source and is still unbearable.” –Gordon Parkway, Camillus

“I’d love to have somebody sit in my backyard for a day; they’d be surprised to hear how loud it is. That kind of stuff consumes you. You become a victim of it. You can’t get away from it, and you feel trapped.” –Avery Avenue, Solvay
